Photo Shoot Home Preparation Guide

How to Prepare Your Home for Photography:

 

To make your property look its absolute best...

please do the following, in addition to cleaning your home:

​

Interior:

​

A Day or two before Photoshoot

  • Minimize clutter and remove all items off countertops (including kitchen appliances, remotes), tables, night stands, etc.

  • Minimize personal items

  • Clear refrigerator of all magnets/papers

  • Replace any missing lightbulbs

 An Hour or so Before the Shoot

  • Remove small throw rugs, including doormats and bathroom mats.

  • Remove all items from bathroom countertops, sinks, showers, and tubs.

  • Vacuum carpets & sweep floors.

  • Make beds & put away clothes.

  • Toilet seats down; full roll of toilet paper.

  • Open all shades & blinds.

  • Hide all trash cans, pet toys, bowls & litter boxes.

  • Please keep all pets restrained on a leash, in a kennel, or offsite during your appointment.

  • Turn off all ceiling fans and televisions.

  • Turn on all lights in the house, including fireplaces, lamps, and under-cabinet lights.

  • Conceal all cords, if possible - unplug if needed (except lamps)

 

Exterior:

​

 A Day or two before Photoshoot

  • Clean pool, if applicable, and remove any toys.

  • Mow lawn & trim bushes, if needed.

  • Arrange outdoor furniture as you would like it photographed. If there is a patio umbrella, please open it.

  • Put away water hoses, toys, cleaning supplies, recycle bins, and other miscellaneous items that are not directly part of the exterior area.

 An Hour or so Before the Shoot

  • Remove any yard signs (For Sale, home security, school, etc.)

  • Remove cars from driveway; do not park in front of house.

  • Sweep/remove leaves and other items in patio areas, lawn, sidewalks and driveway.
